As a member of REI's Central Asia program, I serve as Advisor for Strategic Direction at Enactus Kazakhstan. Based in Almaty, the largest city in Central Asia, Enactus Kazakhstan works with students at educational institutions throughout Kazakhstan to promote entrepreneurial action aligned with principles of sustainability.  Student teams develop projects that meet real needs, and they present their results in national and international competitions.  I bring my long experience with environmental protection research, institutional partnerships and mentoring to my work with Enactus Kazakhstan.  I enjoy making personal and organizational connections and working with students who are developing their own outlook on life, leadership and service to others. I am studying Kazakh language, and in my spare time I enjoy biking into the Alatau mountains above Almaty.
